Igor Tudor was appointed by Tottenham to lead Tottenham 44 days ago, replacing Thomas Frank. However, the Croatian strategist only helped the team get 1 victory after 7 matches, causing Tottenham to be eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and only 1 point ahead of the relegation group in the Premier League.
The Croatian coach has never coached a team in the Premier League, but he has experience reviving form after mid-season contracts at other clubs. But with Tottenham, Tudor was not as successful as expected when he lost all four of the first four matches leading the north London team.
A press release from Tottenham club said: "We confirm that the two sides have agreed on the immediate departure of head coach Igor Tudor from the club.
Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their goalkeeper and fitness coach positions.
We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts in the past six weeks, a time they have worked tirelessly. We also express our condolences for the loss Igor has just experienced and would like to send our deepest condolences to him and his family in this difficult time.
Updated information about the new head coach will be provided in the near future”.
Tottenham's most recent loss was at home to Nottingham Forest on March 22, before FIFA Days.
Immediately after that match, Igor Tudor learned that his father, Mario, had passed away.
Tudor's departure left Tottenham without a head coach in the last seven matches of the Premier League season, as they were only one place and one point above the relegation zone.
The north London club will now look for their third manager this season as they aim to avoid relegation in the second division for the first time since 1977. Tottenham's next match is against Sunderland on April 12.
Currently, it is not clear whether Tottenham will appoint an interim coach or a long-term leader. International media reports that Roberto de Zerbi and former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino are two strong candidates for the team's leadership position in the future.
Pochettino pledged to lead the US national team at this summer's World Cup but has expressed his desire to return to work in England, while sources say De Zerbi is interested in taking over Tottenham but only if the team avoids relegation. De Zerbi seems hesitant to take over immediately, but Spurs are trying to persuade the Italian strategist, who is unemployed after leaving Marseille in February 2026, to change his decision.
