Legend Wayne Rooney believes that statements from former players and people linked to Arsenal are disadvantageous to the team's own championship opportunity.

In the context of Arsenal aiming for their first Premier League title since 2004, the gap between them and Manchester City has narrowed to four points. This makes the championship race more tense as the season enters a decisive stage.

Former striker Wayne Rooney, who has won five championships with Man United, believes that opinions from within Arsenal are unintentionally creating more pressure. He said on The Overlap program: "In my opinion, what is happening is that Arsenal fans and former players speaking out are really harming the team. They should remain silent and let others speak out.

Rooney especially expressed his confusion with the view of legend Martin Keown, who once said that leading by six points could be "better" than a nine-point gap. Rooney said: "I heard Martin Keown say that leading by six points is better than leading by nine points. What is he saying? He is an experienced player who is feeling worried.

Despite pointing out the disadvantage of external pressure, Rooney still believes Arsenal is capable of winning the championship. He commented: "Arsenal has many quality players. I don't think they have a real superstar, but they can win and they have proven it in the past three years. I think they will win thanks to Mikel Arteta. He is handling the pressure perfectly.

In the most recent round, Arsenal lost points against Brentford in the domestic league, before winning big against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup. The London team will continue their championship race with a clash with Wolves, before entering the important North London derby with Tottenham.
