This is the direction of Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, at the Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, held on the morning of June 19.
Currently, VNU is a national key university with 6 member schools, training 147 undergraduate majors and 49 master's majors. Many key majors such as semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence (AI), information technology, financial technology (Fintech) have been and are being implemented, meeting the urgent needs of society and affirming the school's leading position.
To realize the goal, key infrastructure projects are being accelerated. The Da Nang University Urban Area Project has completed site clearance of nearly 79/110 hectares on the Da Nang side. In the period of 2022-2025, the school has implemented sub-projects for building technical infrastructure using loans from the World Bank and compensation for site clearance in Hoa Quy. The medium-term public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period has also been submitted to the Ministry of Education and Training.
In his speech, Mr. Ho Ky Minh highly appreciated the role of the university in providing policy advice and contributing to the socio-economic development of the city. A typical example is the active participation of the University of Economics in the project to build the International Financial Center and the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Mr. Ho Ky Minh emphasized that in the context of Da Nang and Quang Nam about to merge, the demand for high-quality human resources for strategic fields such as semiconductors, AI, blockchain, logistics, green finance, etc. is very large. He suggested that Da Nang University: "It is necessary to review, adjust and perfect the development strategy... to complete the development of Da Nang University to become a National University, a key training and research center of the country and the region."
Also at the Congress, the Standing Committee of the City People's Committee Party Committee announced the decision to appoint personnel for the Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term. Accordingly, Mr. Phan Minh Duc will continue to hold the position of Party Committee Secretary and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu will be Deputy Party Committee Secretary, Director of Da Nang University, ensuring continuous leadership for upcoming strategic goals.
