National University of Singapore partners with FPT in AI field

National University of Singapore (NUS) and FPT mobilize an investment of 50 million USD over the next 5 years, for research and development of AI talent.

FPT and the NUS School of Information Technology (NUS Computing) have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), including establishing a modern research lab, investing in promoting innovation and training experts in the field of AI.

Under the framework of this memorandum of understanding, FPT will, together with NUS and other enterprises in the AI ​​ecosystem of Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, plan to mobilize an investment of US$50 million over the next five years for pioneering research and talent development activities in the field of AI.

One of the key activities of the cooperation agreement is that the two sides will coordinate to establish an AI research lab. This place will focus on researching and developing advanced technologies, including machine learning, data analysis, natural language processing and computer vision applications to solve practical problems in fields such as banking, insurance, logistics, transportation, aviation, energy, manufacturing, etc., contributing to promoting innovation in the field of AI in Vietnam, Singapore as well as the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the cooperation agreement, FPT and NUS Computing will also seek opportunities to commercialize AI-integrated solutions, products, and services jointly researched and developed by both parties for the global market.

Another important content of the cooperation agreement is that the two sides will promote the training of high-quality AI human resources through programs such as internships, seminars, training and doctoral research, contributing significantly to Vietnam and Singapore always being at the forefront of technological innovation.

NUS is Singapore’s leading university, with 16 schools and faculties across three campuses in Singapore, and more than 40,000 students from 100 countries and regions. With a half-century of research experience in AI, the university has close ties with government agencies, Singapore businesses and international partners in many AI projects.

In 2024, NUS established the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, bringing together leading AI researchers and experts.

AI is considered one of the cutting-edge technologies, playing a core role in FPT's development strategy. The unit's current AI human resources include more than 1,500 engineers, along with additional resources from 1,300 FPT University students every year as well as from the AI ​​Residency program in cooperation with the Mila Quebec AI Institute, to nurture young talents in the AI ​​industry.
