13 years ago, after graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry, Mr. Nguyen Chuong Phi (born in 1989, Cao Lanh district) had the intention of "must do something to make a difference" for his hometown.
In 2014, thanks to the encouragement and support of the province, Mr. Phi decided to change direction to work abroad under a contract - marking a turning point in his life. 3 years in Japan were the time that helped him realize many things, from learning experience to accumulating finances and planning a start-up.

"In the context that agricultural products in the countryside often fall into the cycle of having a good harvest and lose prices, I decided to do business in dried fruits and vegetables to increase the value of local products. Feeling the smell is ripe, I immediately started working with my family to build and develop Quang Vinh Food Company Limited" - Mr. Phi shared.
The young boss added that at first, he only opened a small business, and hopefully, luckily, he controlled many factors in business, he was given the momentum to develop, creating more jobs for local workers. At this time, the company's products have been available in many supermarkets across the country and foreign customers have come to order for export, of which bananas and dried sweet potatoes are outstanding products.

From poverty reduction to start-ups
Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Thap province - shared that the province has identified sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time under contracts as an important solution in the process of implementing the target program of job creation and sustainable poverty reduction.
With a broader vision, workers will be motivated to practice and improve their skills in production, business, and professional qualifications to return to their hometown to apply in production and economic development.

Along with that, in recent years, the leaders of Dong Thap province have always made efforts to position it as a startup locality. Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee always focuses on potential to develop startup products from indigenous resources.
The startup program has spread in the community, many new product lines have been launched on the basis of taking advantage of and promoting indigenous resources, focusing on the province's key product lines. On average, Dong Thap has about 400 newly established enterprises each year and more than 100 projects participating in start-up competitions in the province, region and country.

The People's Committee of Dong Thap province has recently issued a plan to implement the project of developing an intensive processing industry combined with the development of the key industry of Dong Thap province to 2030, with a vision to 2050. According to this plan, the province focuses on developing an intensive processing industry in the direction of linking in the production value chain - processing and consuming agricultural products and fishery products from key products of the province to produce high value products to produce high value products.

Currently, Dong Thap province focuses on calling for and attracting investment in deep processing industries in the fields of processing industry, petrochemical, forestry processing industry, supporting industry to serve the development of large-scale, modern agricultural and aquatic processing industry, with a circular economy serving exports in a sustainable way.
