The 54th UPU International Writing Contest (2025) is organized by UPU with the theme "Imagine you an ocean. Show someone why and how they should do to take good care of and protect you (English: imaGINE YOU ARE THE OCEAN). write a letter to someone Explaining why and how they should take good care of you).
With a letter about the script for the film called The Call of the Ocean to famous director James Cameron, Minh Khue transformed into an ocean to tell his own story. The heart of the ocean is quarreling, painful, about to stop beating because of indifference and devastation and the appeal of influential people to make a film that makes the whole world wake up.
Minh Khue's letter has surpassed more than 1.5 million entries from students nationwide, excellently winning the National First Prize at the 54th UPU International Writing Contest (2025) in Vietnam.
Born and raised in the coastal city of Da Nang, Minh Khue said he was especially impressed with this year's contest because the theme was closely linked to the homeland's land and sea and the concern when witnessing the human impact on the life of the ocean. In the letter, the image of the "olds" ocean of the past, the "exhausted" ocean of the present appears realistically and vividly, gradually leading readers through the complete script of the meaningful film "The call of the ocean".
Through the letter, I hope to speak up and take responsibility for the younger generation to spread the message of protecting the ocean through small but practical actions. I believe that conveying this message through films, an easily accessible media for today's youth, will help raise awareness and responsibility of everyone in protecting the ocean, Minh Khue shared.
