With the vision of developing creative urban areas, Hoi An city officially opened the Youth Leadership Training Program for more than 50 students in grades 1011.
The program aims to train a generation of global citizens with innovative thinking, connecting indigenous knowledge and action capacity in the 21st century. The program will last until the end of July 2025, combining theory, field experience, dialogue with artisans, businesses and teamwork, thereby developing global citizen skills, community project management and social media.
The program aims to train a young generation of citizens to apply systematic and creative thinking to solve social problems in the locality, in the context of globalization taking place in the daily life of the heritage city.
The program is a key activity of the project "Promoting innovation for young people and the community" sponsored by UN-Habitat and fondation Botnar, aiming to realize the goal of developing Hoi An into a creative, inclusive urban area with people at the center.
The focus of the program is the global citizen skills set, implemented according to theMagical Leaders training framework, developed by Zeeko Education (Ireland) and globally supported by Enterprise Ireland. In Vietnam, the program has been piloted by the Center for the Gifted (CGD) in Vietnamese, and Wemaster has officially transferred and trained it since 2024.
The entire Hoi An Young Leadership Training Program helps students practice the basics of leadership in the 21st century including effective cooperation, effective communication, critical thinking and creativity.
At the same time, students will be equipped with community and communication project management skills, to proactively design and implement initiatives associated with local resources, heritage and livelihoods. They will learn how to apply leadership skills to build initiatives to support sustainable development for traditional craft villages such as Kim Bong, Thanh Ha, Tra Que...
At the same time, the program opens up opportunities to access a diverse creative ecosystem in Hoi An such as Le Ngoc Thuan's Flood Forest Village, Nguyen Quoc Dan's Revival Workshop... where Vietnamese culture and materials are conveyed through contemporary art and open creative thinking.
