The event is a space full of Korean culture, bringing exciting and attractive experiences to thousands of students from universities with training programs related to Korean language in Ho Chi Minh City such as: Hong Bang International University, Van Lang University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, etc.
Students participated in many activities: Korean cooking competition, kimchi making experience with their own recipe, traditional Korean games. In particular, at the festival, there was also a street dance performance and competition held for the first time for Korean language students.
The program has received attention from the Korean Consulate General, the Korean Language Education Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, the Korean Cultural Institute, Korean Cultural Associations and Korean enterprises such as CJ Foods Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Life Plaza Magazine as co-sponsors of the program.
Ms. Kim Mi Yeon, Education Consul, Consulate General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City attended and sent her congratulations and thanks to HIU for organizing such an interesting festival, contributing to the cooperation and exchange between Korea and Vietnam.
Ms. Kim Mi Yeon added: “The diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Korea over the past 30 years has achieved many successes in areas such as economics, trade, politics, and culture. In 2024 alone, there were more than 5 million labor exchanges between the two countries, demonstrating the deep cooperative relationship as well as the special affection and interest in mutual culture between Vietnam and Korea. Cuisine also plays an important role in connecting the cultures between the two countries. I hope the contest will help students understand more about the culinary culture of the kimchi land.”
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Vice President of HIU said: “Currently, 47 countries have introduced Korean into their schools, which shows that Korean has many opportunities in the international market. Hong Bang International University focuses on academic education activities, cultural exchanges, and internships abroad to help students develop into global citizens, use many languages, and understand the cultures of other countries. I hope that today's contest will be an opportunity for students to experience and participate in useful cultural activities.”
This is one of many competitions that HIU connects with international organizations and agencies to organize for the school's students to help them increase their experience in an international learning environment.
Along with extracurricular activities, HIU constantly expands cooperation with universities in Korea to create conditions for students to exchange and study. Every year, hundreds of HIU students participate in exchange programs at Korean universities such as Busan University, Seoul Women's University, Konkuk University, Chungbuk National University, Dankook University, etc. Students have the opportunity to interact with international students who come to exchange and study and have many opportunities to study abroad, study at higher levels abroad.
The Korean language training program at HIU is designed based on the training programs of Konkuk University, Chungbuk National University, and Seoul Women's University. Students are equipped with in-depth knowledge of Korean language and culture, and practical knowledge in work to participate in the domestic and international labor market. The school focuses on providing students with the latest knowledge about countries in the region and international integration trends in the current context of globalization.
