The conference was attended by more than 300 experts and senior medical officials from Vietnam and Australia, Germany, Denmark, Spain, the Russian Federation, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines with the theme "Value-based medical technology supply: challenges and solutions".
Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan - Deputy Minister of Health said that health technology assessment is considered an effective tool to improve the efficiency of the health system with the goal of supporting policy makers in making evidence-based policy decisions on the selection, payment and optimal use of health technology.
Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan commented: “This conference is a valuable opportunity for experts, scientists and policy makers from many different backgrounds to share, discuss and find practical solutions to connect medical technology and the real value it brings to patients.”
International experts shared their experiences in applying medical technology assessment for “value-based procurement” that is being applied in their countries, such as: MSc. Rossana Eugenia Alessandrello, Spain reported on “Experience in value-based procurement of medical devices in Europe”; Dr. Pritaporn Kingkaew, Thailand shared “Experience in medical technology assessment for medical devices in Thailand”;...
In addition to 2 plenary sessions and 4 thematic sessions with nearly 30 reports and research papers, the conference also had 2 post-conference training programs including "Health Technology Assessment at Hospital Level" and "Advanced Health Technology Assessment" which provided health workers with knowledge as well as practical experience from experts in this field.
