Hoa Sen students make their mark, "cover" national creative awards

International standard training in the direction of practical training

According to MSc. Nguyen Duong Quynh Anh - Program Director, Graphic Design is a program that combines a solid artistic foundation with modern technology skills, aiming to create a generation of designers with creative thinking and practical application.

In particular, the HSU Graphic Design Program has met AUN-QA standards - a set of prestigious quality standards of the Southeast Asian University Network. This is a testament to the quality of international standard training, bringing many advantages to students in studying, developing careers and integrating.

During the learning process, students will have access to basic art subjects such as painting, design, illustration... to specialized subjects such as brand recognition system design, packaging, web, motion graphic, animation, VFX... Each subject is associated with practical projects for students to practice applied design thinking.

The teaching staff all have master's degrees from prestigious domestic and international schools or have worked for many years as creative managers at media companies, advertising companies, and multinational corporations such as Dentsu, Ajinomoto, Yamaha, Panasonic, Canon, etc. Thanks to that, students can both study theory and understand the operations of the creative industry.

HSU also invested "heavily" in a modern classroom and studio system for the Graphic Design industry, including: iMac room, new generation electronic drawing board, VR glasses, wallpaper, studio... to help students have a learning environment similar to that of a business.

In particular, during the learning process, students have the opportunity to exchange with international exhibitions, visit design companies, printing workshops, packaging factories, and study with leading experts through workshops and consulting programs. This is a bridge for students to understand market needs and shape personal design styles early.

Students' designs are recognized by the community and businesses

HSU's practical training philosophy - practical work has brought many impressive achievements to students majoring in Graphic Design. Many graduation projects at HSU have become practical application products, recognized by the community and businesses.

A typical example is the project "Me Tro - Me Pho" by students Nguyen Pham Truong An and Nguyen Thai Hoc, which has been chosen as the official brand identity of Metro Line 1 HCMC - a new symbol of city traffic. After that, this project also won the "Promising Image Design" award at the Van Xuan Awards 2023 - Vietnam Creative Advertising Award organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Also in 2024, students majoring in Graphic Design at HSU won 2/3 of the highest awards in the Van Xuan Stars group at the Van Xuan Awards 2024. Specifically, the first prize went to the project "Ba Hoa's injustice" by Than Dang Nguyet Minh and Tran Anh Thu - a creative and visual fire prevention and fighting propaganda campaign. The second prize was named "March of brand recognition and campaign launching Tho Dia - indigenous tour booking platform" by the group Nguyen Hoang Duc Thinh and Vo Hong Mai.

In addition to awards, students also quickly affirmed their abilities when working at prestigious enterprises such as: Jet Studio, BHD, Digital Works Vietnam, Le Bao Minh, Matta Production... According to statistics in 2024, 94% of students have jobs right before and after graduation, many of whom are recruited right in the internship.

Not only that, with the spirit of entrepreneurship, students are also able to start a business in the creative industry, open their own studios, take on freelance projects to produce multimedia content. With a well-trained design - art - technology thinking foundation, HSU students are capable of conquering domestic and international markets.
