Associate Professor. Dr. Lam Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Plastic Surgery Association, Vice Principal of Gia Dinh University, gave an in-depth report on the topic "New points in maxillofacial plastic surgery".
Associate Professor. Dr. Lam Hoai Phuong emphasized: The Dentistry, Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery industry has many strong development opportunities thanks to technological advances and the attention of health management agencies. In the digital age, in addition to professional training in diagnosis and treatment, we need to focus on applying technology in medicine, from patient management to developing modern dental techniques.

The cosmetic surgery industry in Vietnam is facing many development opportunities, driven by increasing demand for beauty and extensive international integration. However, the problem of high-quality human resources is still a difficult problem for the health sector, requiring the cooperation of management agencies, training facilities and enterprises in this field.
Data from the 2019 Statistics Office recorded that Vietnam has 9.7 doctors/10,000 people, of which the ratio of Dentists is still limited and is among the lowest in the world. However, Resolution 20 of the 12th Central Executive Committee sets a goal of ensuring 11 Dentists and Surgeons for over 10,000 people by 2030. According to the latest data from the United Nations, Vietnam's population is about 101 million people (in 2025). This situation shows that this is a big challenge for the country's health sector, but at the same time opens up great opportunities for young people who are planning to study Dentistry.

In order to "support" the development of the health sector, GDU has expanded its training portfolio with new promising majors such as Dentistry - Maxillofacial Surgery, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Technology. With a modern curriculum, combined with practice at many hospitals and leading medical technology companies in Vietnam, GDU is confident in helping students have a solid foundation to firmly enter the labor market.
The Dentistry plays an important role in the health system, not only because of the specific nature of the profession but also because the demand for oral health care is increasing. According to statistics, the rate of oral diseases in Vietnam is very high, in addition, oral health is closely linked to many other diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, ... Therefore, training highly qualified human resources in this field is an urgent need, contributing to improving the quality of life for people, Associate Professor. Dr. Lam Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City plastic surgery society, Vice Principal of Gia Dinh University said.
In recent years, GDU has continuously expanded its cooperative relationships with organizations, businesses, and specialized units to bring students learning opportunities and practical experiences. Accompanying the Ho Chi Minh City plastic surgery Association in this scientific conference is a clear demonstration of that orientation.

On March 20, 2025, GDU signed cooperation agreements with more than 20 enterprises in the fields of education, technology, finance, banking, telecommunications, hospitality, real estate, communications, architecture, e-commerce, etc., bringing the total number of cooperation units to nearly 300 companies and corporations, creating a solid bridge between schools and the labor market. These activities not only help students access a professional environment but also contribute to promoting the sustainable development of the community through sharing knowledge and resources.
