Tho Chau - the outpost of An Giang province - has just officially become a Special Zone since July 1, 2025. Along with the government apparatus, the Tho Chau Special Forces Police force was also established.

In the first days of operation, the Special Forces Police force also encountered difficulties in terms of lack of facilities, limited living conditions, and incomplete traffic and communication infrastructure. However, surpassing everything is the sense of responsibility and steadfast will of the People's Public Security soldiers who have been here since the early days.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Khanh - Head of Tho Chau Special Forces Police - said: The arrangement and merger of administrative units, streamlining the apparatus, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, and serving the people is getting better and better. For the police force, this is both an opportunity and a challenge that requires each officer and soldier to adapt quickly, continue to innovate thinking and working methods, and stick to the grassroots to perform well the task of ensuring security and order in the new situation.

Working in a special area like Tho Chau - a front island, far from the mainland, living and working conditions still lack many shortcomings and difficulties, but we always clearly define our roles and responsibilities. Not only is he a soldier in maintaining security and order but he is also a spiritual support for the people on remote islands, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Khanh shared.

According to the decision of the Director of An Giang Provincial Police, Tho Chau Special Forces Police is organized with 5 professional and technical teams: General, Security, Police Order, Crime Prevention Police and Regional Police. The launch of the Special Forces Police force marks an important step, increasing the presence of regular armed forces, ready to respond to all situations related to security and order in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Khanh said: In just a short time, the working groups quickly took up the pace of work such as updating population data, issuing citizen identification cards, propagating the law, receiving feedback from the grassroots... Not only doing the task of maintaining security, they were also a spiritual support for people in difficult times, from patrolling to supporting emergency care and preventing natural disasters - always present promptly, regardless of day or night.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, a resident who came to do paperwork, said: "I thought that when it was first established, it would be confusing, but I didn't expect everything to happen quickly and neatly. I came to make paperwork and was welcomed and enthusiastically guided by the staff. The important thing is to have documents that I can get done right here so that I don't have to wait or go to the city or the province like before, to help people travel less difficultly".

Mr. Lam Minh Hien - Party Secretary, Chairman of Tho Chau Special Zone People's Committee - said: The administrative agencies in the Special Zone have quickly stabilized their organization, received and handled records and procedures for people since July 1 as well as other localities.

People who come to contact the work are enthusiastically guided, the procedures are quick and convenient. The rapid operation of the apparatus not only shows the determination of the entire political system, but also creates trust and excitement among the people.

"The biggest motivation that helps me and my officers and soldiers feel secure in sticking to the island, sticking to the people, and overcoming all challenges is the trust of the people, the attention and close direction of the leaders of the Provincial Police and local Party committees and authorities," Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Khanh shared more.
