On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty, returning to the countryside of Thanh Duc (Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province), I could not help but be amazed by the surprising development here. The wide, flat concrete roads were bright red with the national flag, with lush green trees on both sides and spacious houses.
The communal office buildings, health stations, cultural houses, community sports areas, schools, etc. are all spacious, clean and beautiful. Many economic models are doing well, not only bringing a better standard of living to the people but also creating spectacular landscapes.
About 10 years ago, when the new rural construction movement began, Thanh Duc was a mountainous commune with many difficulties and outdated and degraded infrastructure.
Identifying the construction of new rural areas as a major program, an important opportunity to promote infrastructure construction and socio-economic development in the area, immediately after receiving directive documents from the central government, the province and the district on implementing the new rural movement, based on the actual conditions of the locality, the commune leaders quickly developed and widely deployed specialized resolutions, assigned specific tasks to members of the Steering Committee, created close coordination between departments, branches, and organizations and issued documents guiding the implementation of the criteria.
Economic development to improve people's lives
Through extensive propaganda and mobilization work to all classes of people, by 2023, the whole commune had mobilized more than 81 billion VND to implement the NTM program, of which resources contributed by the people were more than 6.5 billion VND, accounting for 8.05%.
With the participation of the entire political system, by 2023, Thanh Duc was honored to be recognized by the People's Committee of Nghe An province as a commune meeting NTM standards.
The commune continues to focus on proposing solutions for economic development and increasing people's income. The locality actively promotes and mobilizes people to renovate mixed gardens, promote the application of science and technology in livestock production, and transform crop structure towards commodities to increase value.
Up to now, Thanh Duc has had over 30 farms with an income of 300 million VND/year or more. Among them, there are many farms with an income of billions of VND/year. Many specialties of Thanh Duc have become famous brands such as Cam Tong Doi, Thanh Duc Green Tea... The whole commune has nearly 20 hectares of organic oranges and has been accepted by many demanding markets such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Saigon...
Up to now, the whole commune has 3 fresh tea bud processing factories: Truong Thinh Tea Factory, Hanh Lam Tea Enterprise, Rong Phuong Dong Tea Factory; 1 gas station, 1 unburnt brick production facility, 3 excavators, 10 plows, 2 combine harvesters serving production well, 14 milling machines; 8 garden sawmills, 9 carpentry workshops, 108 large and small business and service households serving all kinds of goods; 43 cars of all kinds, transporting goods and passengers to serve the people.
The rural economy is increasingly developing, gradually increasing average income, improving the lives of rural people. In 2022, the average income per capita in the commune will reach 42 million VND/person/year; in 2023, it will reach 48.78 million VND/person/year.

This is an important milestone and premise for Thanh Duc to continue to strive to achieve advanced new rural standards" - Chairman of Thanh Duc Commune People's Committee Nguyen Huu Vinh shared.
As a locality with abundant labor resources, many high-quality agricultural products with high output such as oranges, grapefruits, green tea, bamboo shoots, etc., but without a factory, the value of the products made by the people is not high. Chairman of Thanh Duc Commune People's Committee hopes that businesses in the commune will invest in deep processing factories to create specialties such as orange juice, dried bamboo shoots, green tea juice products, etc. for the market.
