The memoir "City in the Heart" by author Huynh Thi Minh Tam, released on April 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, are emotional pages about a three-generation family full of passion.

Not only is it a personal story, the work also evokes the depth of a turbulent period, where ordinary people lived and sacrificed for the great ideals of the nation.

Born into a revolutionary family, the author is the daughter of martyr Huynh Van Mot and Vietnamese Heroic Mother Duong Thi Hue. The fierce years of resistance have been deeply imprinted in her childhood memories with separations and losses. The steadfast father, the brave mother operating right in the enemy's heart, being arrested and tortured many times but still wholeheartedly with the revolution - all create a solid spiritual foundation for her children to follow in their footsteps.

From private memories, the book opens up a broader picture of a generation that lived in "fire flowers". The author participated in the revolution from a very young age, working in medicine, serving the battlefield, directly participating in the Mau Than 1968 campaign. Those experiences are not only personal milestones but also truthfully reflect the silent sacrifices of so many people in the war.

One of the touching highlights of the work is the story of the younger brother martyr Huynh Duong Long. From a student, dynamic union member, he volunteered to join the army, fought and sacrificed before the age of 18 in the war to protect the Southwest border. That image is like a typical cut of the "heroic blood" flowing throughout the family, and also a symbol of the noble ideals of Vietnamese youth during wartime.

Not stopping at the past, "City in the Heart" also dedicates significant space to portray Ho Chi Minh City in the journey of revival and development after the country's reunification. From a chaotic post-war city, the city gradually stabilized, developed infrastructure, expanded urban space, and formed industrial parks and new urban areas. In parallel with that is preserving cultural and historical values, creating the unique identity of a dynamic but meaningful city.

Attached to the city, Huynh Thi Minh Tam continues her journey of dedication in peacetime with practical social activities. After retiring, she established a scholarship fund named after her father, supporting thousands of poor students to overcome difficulties, and at the same time implementing many charity programs in the community. These actions are not only a tribute to the past but also show responsibility to the future.

Through the book, the author sends a clear message to the young generation: do not forget history, must appreciate the sacrifices of our forefathers, and at the same time constantly learn and train to build the country in the new era. In the context of integration, preserving identity and nurturing living ideals becomes even more important.

City in the Heart" is therefore not only a memoir, but also a book rich in educational and humanistic values. From painful but proud memories, the work arouses belief and aspiration for a better future - where each young person continues to write the story of the nation through their own actions and responsibilities.
