The film “Live to Love” takes the theme of family, exploring the journey of “learning to love” of young people and parents.
The film features a cast of famous actors from both the North and the South, such as: Diep Bao Ngoc (as Anh Duong), Ngoc Huyen (as Anh Minh), Trong Nhan (as Quoc Thien), Quoc Anh (as Gia Hung), People's Artist Ngoc Thu (as Mrs. Mai)...
The first setting to mention is Anh Minh's house in the early stages, which is also the most difficult and deadlocked stage of the character.
Director Tran Ka My decided to choose the family's first house in Cuu village to match what her older sister Anh Duong once said to her younger sister: "Look, don't you see this is where time has stopped? Life is about moving forward, but time has stopped here. I will find a way to get out of here."
Sharing the reason for choosing Cuu village, director Ka My said: "Cuu village is a wonderful space, it still retains its old features but does not lose the breath of daily life, it still shows that this is a suburban "town - village" area, not an isolated village in the countryside...".
Besides the setting of Anh Minh's house, another place that captivates the audience is Dong Mo Lake - the place where the two characters Anh Minh and Hung Cuong meet to "free" themselves from life.
Before deciding to film here, director Ka My was led by the set crew to another location in Dong Anh district.
Taking on the role of director of the film, director Ka My shared that he and D.O.P Hoang Hong Thai had agreed to spend most of each day of filming to "pay off" the progress but would focus all their energy on "playing" a "key" scene.
During the 158 days of filming, the two had about 100 scenes that they considered “beautiful”. Among them, there were 2 scenes that impressed director Ka My the most. The first was a cluster of scenes where the character Anh Minh walked on old alleys and whispered goodbye to each mossy wall, each peeling gate, each pillar, each stone crevice, and left behind a yellow leaf as a final mark left here.
A “youth” is Anh Minh saying goodbye to an “old time”, the place where she grew up, the place that people like her sister call “where time has stopped”.
The second scene is the underwater kiss between Anh Minh and Hung Cuong. To be exact, this is not a kiss, but Anh Minh is giving air to save Hung Cuong. With that “kiss”, Anh Minh is trying to fight for the life of Hung Cuong, a person who is just a friend he met for the first time, not a lover.
