Inside Men" is adapted from the webtoon (online comic) of the same name by Yoon Tae Ho, revolving around power struggles between politicians, media, businesses and the prosecution agency.
The film version released in 2015 was directed by Woo Min Ho, with the participation of Lee Byung Hun, Cho Seung Woo and Baek Yoon Sik.
The work quickly became a box office phenomenon when it attracted 9.1 million tickets, and was also considered one of the most successful political - crime films of Korean cinema.
In March this year, Hive Media Corp confirmed plans to revive this brand in the form of a film trilogy.
Unlike the 2015 version, the new project will play a prequel role, set in the late 1980s and exploiting events that took place before the original story.
Through this, the production crew expects to expand the worldview of "Inside Men", and at the same time explain the origin of the powerful characters appearing in the previous work.
Initially, the project was developed as a multi-episode television series with the expected participation of Song Kang Ho, Koo Kyo Hwan, Soo Ae and Lee Sung Min.
However, the plan was later significantly changed when the crew decided to switch to the form of a three-part film and re-selected most of the cast.
The project is directed by Kim Min Beom - assistant director of the movie "December 12: The Day" and Kim Jin Seok - who participated in the adaptation of "Made in Korea".
According to the current plan, part one and part two will be filmed simultaneously this year, while part three is expected to begin production next year.
On Ha Jung Woo's side, the actor still maintains active activities in both film and television. In 2025, he participated in two projects "Lobby" and "The People Upstairs", and returned to the small screen with the movie "Concrete Dream".
