This is a psychological - thriller inspired by phone and Internet scams. The project is produced by Silver Moonlight, directed by young director Oscar Duong and is expected to be nationwide released from November 21, 2025.
2025, marking an explosive period in Lien Binh Phat's career. In addition to returning to the reality show Running Man Vietnam, he also made an international mark with the role of Doctor Pham in the movie Doctor of the contrary land - the role that helped him become the first Vietnamese artist to be nominated for Best Actor at the Kim Chung Awards.
In Money Trap, Lien Binh Phat plays Dang Thuc, a financial officer who becomes a victim of a large-scale high-tech scam. The film is considered the first Vietnamese film to directly exploit this problem - a topic of social interest. Instead of following the path of solving the case, the work focuses on depicting the psychology of the defrauded person, the panic and hurt when facing financial losses.
Director Oscar Duong said that Lien Binh Phat was the "last but most suitable" choice for the main role: "Just with a look in front of the camera, I show the inner struggle between right and wrong - something I look for for for the character".
Producer Hang Trinh added that the crew has consulted many real cases and interviewed financial experts and lawyers to accurately recreate the context, tricks and psychology of the victims.
In addition to the thrilling elements, "Money Trap" also intertwines stories about love and family, bringing a message of faith, alertness and human values in the digital age. After the film "Song Lang" (2018), this is considered an important milestone marking Lien Binh Phat's return to Vietnamese cinema, promising to continue affirming the attraction of "talented people" on the big screen.
