The event aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being awarded the title "City for Peace" by UNESCO.
The grand flag-raising ceremony was attended by a military band of 102 members from the Honor Guard of the Ministry of National Defence and 400 professional actors reenacting the moment of saluting the flag on October 10, 1954 in front of the Hanoi flagpole.
The song "Hanoi People" and an excerpt from "Legend of Hoan Kiem Lake" performed by Dang Duong and Pham Thu Ha received enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
The indomitable, heroic and resilient spirit in the resistance war against the US imperialists to establish the heroic victory of "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air" was continued with the song "Hanoi's Spirit" performed by Tung Duong with great enthusiasm.
The parade of the revolutionary forces with the cast recreating the army that took over the capital in 1954, including the police force, youth volunteers and frontline workers, and students of the capital, made the audience proud and excited.
Within the framework of the program, tangible and intangible cultural heritages of 30 districts of Hanoi, and craft villages were also performed on the grand stage at Hoan Kiem Lake.
It was a parade combined with the introduction of the capital's typical cultural and religious heritages: Beliefs in "Worshiping Tan Vien Son Thanh", "Worshiping Saint Giong - Phu Dong Thien Vuong", "Worshiping Chu Dong Tu"; Parades of "Worshiping the Trung Sisters", "Worshiping the Four Guardians of Thang Long", "Worshiping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces".Parade of the Capital's typical Royal Examination Village; Typical folk arts of the Capital such as: Ca Tru, puppetry and Xam singing; tug of war...were also introduced.

“Cultural Festival for Peace” directed by Hoang Cong Cuong has meticulously and impressively portrayed a full and multi-dimensional view of Hanoi from the past to the present.
Director Hoang Cong Cuong said: "In more than 2 hours, we recreated the entire cultural and historical story and milestones of Hanoi from the period of resistance against France and the US to the liberation and expansion of the capital.
The message we want to bring to domestic and international audiences is the richest cultural and historical features of Hanoi. The 140m long main stage and 1.7km long Bo Ho area of the "Cultural Festival for Peace" can be considered a record stage in Vietnam. This is a rare program that mobilizes 10,000 actors and mass forces to participate.
