Coming from a family with an artistic tradition, Dung Nhi has been involved in the stage since he was very young.
Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, the actor said: "I started on stage at the age of 18, at that time I followed my parents, the artists who performed Quoc Tram and Phuong Dung.As a child, I was passionate about singing, I could fall in love with a play that was more than two hours long after watching it once or twice.
However, the road to the group stage is not flat.Although his parents are the main singers, Dung Nhi still has to start from the role of a guide before he officially has the opportunity to act.
Recalling his first role in the play "The Legend of Love", the actor recalled: "The first 5 and 10 minutes on stage, I was very nervous, but the lines were still remembered, the singing was still in the right rhythm. When the role was over, my parents did not praise or criticize me, just kept quiet so I could feel it for myself.Maybe they want me to mature and try harder.
After many years of working in the cai luong stage, Dung Nhi has to face the decline of this art form.
However, no matter how difficult it is, he never intended to give up art: "I never thought about changing careers, even though that period was very difficult. When I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, my brothers and I had advantages in appearance and singing voice, so I easily found opportunities, but I didn't have that."
Therefore, he decided to pursue comedy, a field in which he could promote his acting and singing skills.
When MC Minh Ngoc mentioned the name "Dung Nhi", the actor revealed that the famous comedian Khanh Nam was the one who gave him this stage name."At first, my name was Quoc Dung, but it coincided with musician Quoc Dung, so Mr. Khanh Nam suggested two names: Dung Nho or Dung Nhi.I thought for a while and then chose 'Dung Nhi'.That evening, I had my first performance with Uncle Khanh Nam.Even though I was not prepared, I was determined to try my hand," the actor shared.
This opportunity has helped Dung Nhi have the opportunity to shine in the comedy industry, from short skits to lifelong roles. He always believes: "There is no profession that is not difficult or arduous, but the important thing is whether when the opportunity comes, you can seize it or not".
Dung Nhi not only succeeded on stage but also had a happy family. He and his wife both come from the traditional cradle of the raincoat, so they easily sympathize and understand each other.
He shared: "My family does not obstruct or put pressure on me at work, but always absolutely supports me. Thanks to that, I can devote myself to art.
When asked about the artistic orientation for his children, he frankly said: "I don't force my children to follow this profession. Today's generation is different from mine. I let my child choose and only played a supporting role if he was passionate about art.
