Painter Bui Tien Tuan was born in 1971 in Hoi An, Quang Nam. He graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 1998, then taught at the school. With 30 years in the profession, he has made many significant contributions to the art world, through pencil and silk paintings.
Since 2007, he has organized 10 solo exhibitions and group exhibitions at home and abroad such as the UK, France, Korea... In 2010, he won the silver medal at the National Fine Arts Exhibition in Hanoi, then published the book of light breathing paintings (issued by the Fine Arts Publishing House). The artist also has paintings in the collections of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts and many private collectors.
The exhibition celebrating Bui Tien Tuan's 30th anniversary in his career took place in parallel at 2 locations: Sann (City Exhibition House) and Sann (106 Nguyen Van Huong, Thu Duc City), displaying more than 90 works.
"Those flashback images are constantly intertwined with footage of the constantly transforming bustling urban area that is taking place in my mind. I use artistic language to express the world that is filled in my soul," artist Bui Tien Tuan shared.
This is the 12th solo exhibition of artist Bui Tien Tuan. "Hopefully collectors, experts, and art-loving audiences will see many other aspects of me: In addition to Tuan of the "new beauty" on silk, everyone will see Tuan of the post-school era with a concern for urban reality with " Street Artists", Tuan was painted with color and turned to reflect on Do paper, Tuan was both compassionate and adventurous in the "blossom market" with large-scale acrylic paintings..." - he added.
Because there has been much effort in reviving and renewing Vietnamese silk paintings, with quite a unique mark, the name Bui Tien Tuan is standard for only silk paintings, which is also understandable. But looking back on his 30-year journey of creating, Bui Tien Tuan not only has silk paintings but also oil paintings, Do paper, lacquer paintings...
Bui Tien Tuan not only has the theme of urban women, beautiful women, and beauty, but also has the poetic scenery of Hoi An, street realism, post-expressional spirit and even symbolism. In any material, material, or theme, Bui Tien Tuan still maintains his own identity and style.
"Women in Bui Tien Tuan's paintings often have no trace of rural and agricultural areas, but are often urban people, preferring fashion, sometimes a bit mischievous and enjoying it. They love and value themselves, are independent in their thoughts and behaviors.
Because they create their own feelings, joy, and even loneliness, they are very different from women who work hard and work hard for life. Therefore, the silk painting color palette of Bui Tien Tuan is also different, more fashionable, more sophisticated, creating a breakthrough" - curator Ly Doi commented.
