Accordingly, her decision to take the entrance exam to the University of Theater and Cinema only came at the end of 12th grade, after participating in a propaganda skit. At that time, Pham Yen said that she chose to audition for an actor only with the desire to become famous, seeing this as a stepping stone to switch to singing because she was afraid of learning music theory. "At that time, I thought it was very easy to become famous and did not understand that each profession had its own characteristics," she shared.
However, the process of studying and training has helped the actress realize that her true passion is acting. Since then, she has gradually become more serious about the profession, determining a long-term path instead of temporary thoughts.
On this journey, Pham Yen could not avoid difficulties. She frankly said that she had gone through a long period of continuously failing 20 times in casting sessions, sometimes being rejected dozens of times or being replaced close to the filming day. However, instead of being discouraged, the actress chose a positive view: each role has its own requirements and not being chosen is sometimes just because it is not suitable.
The turning point in her career came from the role of "Ba Hai" in the play "Minh oi" in 2016. This role helped Pham Yen get closer to the audience, and at the same time affirmed her ability to transform into characters with depth. According to her, to do a good role, the artist needs to carefully study the context, character personality and "live" with the character instead of just showing the outside.
Possessing a personal face, Pham Yen said that she is more suitable for roles of "dao tinh cach", "dao lang" instead of a gentle image. This is also the direction she pursues at drama stages, where it helps her cultivate skills and define her own style.
Not stopping at the stage, the actress also cherishes an action movie project with the desire to try her hand at the image of "action actress", inspired by Ngo Thanh Van. This is considered a new step, showing her ambition to expand her acting ability.
Closing the program, Pham Yen sent a message to young people: pursuing art requires seriousness, perseverance and kindness. For her, only when you dedicate yourself wholeheartedly, success can come sustainably.
