On the evening of August 8, singer Pham Anh Duy officially released three songs "Perhaps we shouldn't", "Bat khoc giua dem" and "Gio lanh dau mua", opening his debut studio album named "23".
Previously, Pham Anh Duy had made his mark in activities for more than a decade from the "The Voice of Vietnam", "Starting Dreams" competitions to programs such as "Rap Viet", "Hello Brother" and "Our Song Vietnam".
In that journey, Tran Thanh was one of the people who influenced the male singer's career choice, from encouraging him to continue working, giving advice on how to handle music to encouraging him to move South.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Pham Anh Duy said that every time he sends a test recording to his senior, he often receives quite direct comments. "He trains each word one by one, forcing him to record it over and over again many times to create emotions. He also gives me many valuable advices to shape my career and catch up with trends," the male singer shared.
Interestingly, when starting to implement "23", Pham Anh Duy decided not to send the demo to Tran Thanh. Instead of continuing to seek a suggestion before completing, the male singer wanted to process the product himself based on the accumulated experience and try his hand at his own choice.
I am very grateful to Mr. Thanh for leading and giving me valuable opportunities. My current goal is to train myself well so that he feels proud and sees that accompanying and supporting me is a right decision," Pham Anh Duy said.
Although he has been in the arts for more than 10 years, Pham Anh Duy once lived in a rented room of only about 7-9m2 in Ho Chi Minh City. By 2024, the male singer had his first shared savings of about 20 million VND. At one point, he thought about giving up singing to find a more stable job.
That milestone became part of the reason Pham Anh Duy named the album "23". This is the year he participated in The Voice of Vietnam 2015 and began to be known to many audiences, but did not have enough conditions and experience to make a solo album.
Through "23", he not only performs but also participates in composing, producing and shaping the overall album. For Pham Anh Duy, this is an opportunity to look back at the things he once abandoned and establish a clearer personal mark.
After the three opening songs, "23" will continue to be released in chapters. Two songs "Cuối cùng thì" and "Nghìn lời cảm ơn", including Pham Anh Duy's composition, will be introduced in the final stage before the entire album is released on September 5.
