The year-end film season witnessed the arrival of many anticipated works, but the most prominent is still Wicked: Part 2 a behind-the-scenes story of the famous music brand. The film is heavily invested in every stage, from the setting, costumes, music to cinematic experience, promising to become the biggest entertainment event of the year.
On the ticket sales platform Fandango (US), Wicked: Part 2 has become the film with the highest number of pre-booked tickets in 2025. The film is also in the top 10 films with the highest opening day sales ever on the platform, competing with blockbusters that have made box office history such as Star Wars, Avengers: Endgame or Spider- Man: No Way Home.
The film continues the story of two witches Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Arian Grande) in the context of Oz falling into chaos. One is sought after and misunderstood; the other lives in glory but is lonely and bound by political pressures. Designer Nathan Crowley returns to build a larger and more detailed Oz world, in which many scenes are realized in real size to keep each scene realistic. Outstanding works such as Ngoc Luc Bao City or the Golden Brick Road have been expanded in scale, bringing the typical majestic charm of the series.
The renovation by designer Paul Tazewell continues to be a highlight, with hundreds of hand-embroidered, elaborately crafted costumes reflecting the transformation of the characters. Glinda's wedding dress or Elphaba's left-fitting gown all contribute to enhancing the emotions and depth of the journey they have gone through.
In the new part, Wicked takes the themes of truth, faith and choice to the climax. The performances of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are expected to create strong emotional moments, especially when the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda continues to be the focus of the story.
Wicked: Part 2 will premiere from November 21, 2025 on IMAX, 4DX, Ultra 4DX and ScreenX formats, with an early screening on November 20. This is considered a blockbuster film that promises to stir up the box office at the end of the year.
