Right from the time of its release, the film "Chi Nga Em nang" has attracted attention because of its talented cast including Le Khanh, Quoc Truong, Thuan Nguyen, Uyen An, Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh, along with two "stars" of Thailand Mos Bank. The film depicts a touching story of a pair of orphans who have to rely on each other in a modern city, mixed with conflicts, misunderstandings and hurt in their journey to adulthood. The message "if you fall, someone will lift you" is expressed gently, humanely, and has a healing color.
Experts highly appreciate the way director Vu Thanh Vinh exploits delicate emotions, combining family psychology and love.
Le Khanh especially impressed with her deep inner acting, fully expressing the struggle between love and hurt of her sister. The chemistry between the couples Le Khanh - Quoc Truong, Thuan Nguyen - Uyen An also helped the film have many emotional scenes.
However, despite being considered one of the best quality Vietnamese films of October, Sister Upon My Lift still struggled to attract audiences to the theater. Part of the reason is said to be that the theatrical film market is being "overwhelmed" by action films and imported films.
Many opinions say that Vu Thanh Vinh's film is a "beautiful spiritual dish but not suitable for the taste of the majority", because the film's pace is slow, prone to emotions and everyday details.
However, this is still a positive signal showing that Vietnamese filmmakers are striving towards content quality and emotional value instead of following market trends.
With unimpressive revenue but positive feedback from the audience, the film "Chi ni em nang" is considered a valuable highlight, proving that Vietnamese cinema can still touch the hearts of viewers with kindness and sincere emotions.
