According to the Korea Film Council (KOFIC), as of May 30, "Colony" (Vietnamese title: Bầy xác sống) has attracted 3,109,480 viewers after 10 days of screening, while maintaining its No. 1 box office position. This achievement also helps the work officially break even.
Previously, "Colony" had become the fastest film to reach 1 million and 2 million views in 2026. With the new milestone, the film continues to extend its box office streak and surpass the growth rate of many hits released in the same year, including "The King's Warden".
The film is directed by Yeon Sang Ho - who created a global phenomenon with "Train to Busan" and "Peninsula". The work gathers a cast including Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Bin, Kim Shin Rok, Koo Kyo Hwan and Go Soo.
Unlike many previous Korean zombie films that focused on survival and breathtaking chases, "Colony" expands the zombie world in a science fiction direction. In the film, infected creatures not only act instinctively but are also connected to each other as a collective living system.
Yeon Sang Ho once said that the idea of "herd intelligence" of zombies originated from his interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and the collective thinking that is increasingly affecting modern society. According to the director, the film not only exploits the fear of epidemics but also raises questions about individuality in a world dominated by crowds.
In addition to attracting attention in the domestic market, "Colony" is expected to achieve many new achievements when selling copyrights to 124 countries and territories, including Vietnam.
