According to South Korean media on May 27, Disney+ confirmed that the movie "Knock-Off" is still in a state of indefinite suspension. A platform representative said that the previous stance did not change and there is currently no new release schedule for the project.
Knock-Off" is a large-budget film, telling the story of a man whose life completely changed after the Asian financial crisis in 1997 before becoming a global counterfeit market tycoon.
The work received much attention right from the production stage when it marked Kim Soo Hyun's comeback project with an investment of about 60 billion won. However, the promotion plan and film release schedule were stopped after the actor was involved in a private life controversy related to the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
Recently, Korean public opinion continued to be concerned about the possibility of the movie "Knock-Off" being released again after Kim Se Ui - the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute - was arrested on charges of defaming and spreading false information targeting Kim Soo Hyun.
However, Disney+ still maintains a cautious attitude towards the project. This is also not the first time rumors have appeared about the movie preparing to air. Previously in March, this platform had given a similar response when asked about the release schedule of "Knock-Off".
According to Korean media, Disney+'s continued delay shows that the platform is still carefully considering public opinion reactions before deciding the future of the large-budget project.
