Based on the Sewol ferry sinking tragedy in 2014, the film Untold words recreates the collective pain that once haunted the Korean people. During the premiere at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III), director Lee Sang Hoon shared: Every year on April 16, the entire Korean nation commemorates the victims. That motivated me to make this film."
The story revolves around the family of housewife Yeon Jung, who was devastated by the shock of losing her eldest son. While each member tries to hide their own pain and purpose in life, the secrets gradually push them away. Only when the truth is exposed, can the family learn to face it, find love again and fulfill unfinished promises.

The film attracted attention thanks to its talented cast. Kim Hye Eun - a star familiar to audiences through Itaewon Class - returns as a gentle but determined mother. The movie The Untold Story has a world premiere at DANAFF III, with the choice of Vietnam as the first international destination.
