Recently returning from China - ASEAN Theater Week 2025 in Nam Ninh (Western, China), Meritorious Artist - Director Le Nguyen Dat, Meritorious Artist Le Trung Thao and artist Binh Tinh were moved when the experimental cai luong play Realty won 4 Gold Medals (HCV) including: Performance certificate, excellent director certificate for Le Nguyen Dat and 2 individual certificate for Le Trung Thao and Binh Tinh.
Real staged by the University of Theatre and Cinema of Ho Chi Minh City, is a cai luong version of the experimental play actors alone by the late composer Le Duy Hanh. The film was made famous with a solo adaptation in 2019 and was developed by director Le Nguyen Dat through eight versions.
According to the judges, this is a creative work, demonstrating the spirit of preserving traditional Vietnamese art, while carrying a humane message, easily approaching international audiences. The Vietnamese troupe received enthusiastic applause at the show.
Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat shared: I am happy that the play was well received. This success is the result of a group and a 100-year love for Cai Luong art".
In the play, Binh Tinh plays a young girl who loves Cai Luong, a journey to discover the history of folk arts that transforms her into two female heroes Tong Thi Quyen and Admiral Bui Thi Xuan. The explosive performance and fiery singing helped her win her the 5th international individual certificate in her career. When I heard the name, I was surprised and moved. This is a gift to thank the parents, teachers and the audience who have always accompanied me, she shared.
China - ASEAN Theater Week 2025 brings together 15 art troupes from ASEAN and China. Vietnam has two representatives attending: Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema with "Realty" and Le Ngoc Theater with the play "Mouse wedding".
