Actor and producer Dinh Ngoc Diep shared about his meticulousness and seriousness in preparing costumes for the movie "Detective Kien: Ky an khong dau".
"800 to 1,000 costumes, all hand-sewn by the film crew, unlike today's films that can be borrowed or bought easily.
In all the costumes in the film, Mr. Ghia was the one who dyed each piece of fabric. If you buy fabric outside the garment market, the fabric will be new, and the painting will not be real. In the film, the fabric must be bleached and dyed to get the right idea. Although this is not a historical film, the brothers and sisters have researched very carefully about costumes based on the context of the Nguyen Dynasty, not only expressing social class but also carrying Vietnamese cultural identity.
Victor Vu and Ghia Ci Fam Art Director always respect solemnity, sophistication, and clear decentralization between social classes, but there are still many unique breakthroughs in film art creation.
The body armband of the common people and nobility. Hats and scarves for men and women when going out. Workers wear simpler quarter-ties. The rich class wear silk ao dai, sports hats or scarves," said Dinh Ngoc Diep.
The number of traditional costumes and costumes in "Detective Kien: The Unheard Project" can only be described by the word "giant". The costumes need to be prepared for both the main and secondary routes. Actors wear at least three layers of clothes per day, five layers at most, regardless of the hot or cold weather, without being stripped or covered with fabric. Hundreds of people are hundreds of sets of clothes, shoes, hats... all newly wrapped but cannot buy available goods.
The movie "Detective Kien: Ky an khong dau" is scheduled to premiere on April 30, 2025 at cinemas nationwide.
