Hanoi has no traffic jams, no traffic accidents during holidays

The National Traffic Safety Committee informed that there were no traffic jams or accidents in Hanoi during the May 2 holiday.

The National Traffic Safety Committee has just reported on the situation of traffic order and safety on January 2 as follows:

Regarding traffic congestion: In Hanoi and neighboring localities, traffic order and safety during the day are guaranteed. These areas have no traffic congestion or accidents.

At the gateways to the city and expressways such as Phap Van - Cau Gie, Giai Phong - Giap Bat, National Highway 1, Ring Road 3, Noi Bai, the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen, Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway access road, Gia Lam bus station area, Tran Duy Hung - Pham Hung intersection, traffic volume is stable and moving normally.

Hanoi's inner-city routes towards the central area such as Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung... have stable traffic volume and vehicles, strictly complying with traffic lights.

In Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities: Rach Mieu Bridge area, inner city area and on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway, National Highway 1 traffic is high, moving stably, and there is no traffic congestion.

According to the report of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, on May 2, there were 52 road traffic accidents nationwide, killing 22 people and injuring 44 people (no railway or waterway accidents). Compared to the third day of the 2024 holiday, there were 15 fewer cases, 14 fewer deaths, and 6 more injuries.

During the day, the traffic police force proactively arranged 100% of the troops to be on duty, increased patrols, and handled violations of traffic order and safety.

Accordingly, in the road sector, the authorities have inspected, detected and handled 8,639 violations; fined VND24 billion and VND610 million; temporarily detained 32 cars, 2634 motorbikes, and 52 other vehicles; revoked 322 driving licenses of all kinds. Deducting driving license points for 2263 cases, handling overloaded goods in 36 cases; limiting oversizing in 11 cases, arbitrarily renovating vehicles in 6 cases, and violating drugs in 10 cases.

On the waterway, the police discovered and handled 134 cases, fined 128 million VND, revoked 1 case of professional qualifications and certificates.

The railway and police discovered 6 violations, fined 23 million VND, and revoked 1 vehicle driving license.

The National Traffic Safety Committee assessed that on May 2, 2025 (the third day of the holiday), the traffic situation at key gateway routes, beltways and expressways of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is still guaranteed to be smooth, without traffic congestion or traffic accidents.

The traffic police force has proactively regulated and divided the flow effectively, preventing congestion. The handling of violations, especially alcohol concentration and speed, has been drastically increased. In general, the traffic situation was well controlled, ensuring safety for people.
