Support orange farmers for sustainable development

HCMC - On April 10, the non-profit organization of the Vietnam Food Bank Network organized the program "Cam xanh thuong tinh".

The "Cam Xanh" project is an initiative to solve the problem of orange congestion in the Western region, while opening up a sustainable development direction for the Vietnamese agricultural sector. Not only stopping at supporting orange consumption in difficult times, the project also aims to help farmers master the entire value chain, from production to consumption.

In the context of thousands of tons of oranges in the Western provinces - especially Vinh Long and Tra Vinh - being held back, sharply decreasing in market value, the "Cam Xanh" project is expected to be a long-term and sustainable solution to the problem of agricultural product consumption.

The program focuses on building a transparent and efficient consumption ecosystem, with the participation of the Foodshare Market system, businesses, partners and online platform Camxanh.vn. Thanks to that, farmers can access a wider market, while consumers are guaranteed the quality and origin of agricultural products. This connection not only helps promote the consumption of clean oranges but also contributes to raising the brand of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.

In addition to distributing fresh products, the program also focuses on developing products made from oranges such as juices, jams, essential oils, snacks and organic fertilizers from by-products. Investing in the deep processing value chain helps reduce waste, expand livelihoods for people and increase added value for the agricultural sector.

A notable highlight of the "Cam Xanh" project is the organization of agricultural tours in orange gardens, bringing double livelihoods to local people. This activity not only promotes the development of community tourism but also contributes to raising awareness of clean agricultural products, developing agricultural education for the younger generation and spreading the spirit of sustainable consumption.
