On May 23, the Border Guard Command of Binh Dinh province announced that the unit had just issued a decision to administratively sanction 2 fishing vessels for violating regulations in the field of aquatic products when operating at sea.
According to the records for handling violations, the two fishing vessels were driven by captains residing in An My village, My Cat commune, Phu My district (Binh Dinh province), fishing for squid, departing from Ben Da Border Control Station (Ben Da Border Station, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Border Guard), then fishing in the southern sea area.
During operation, these two vessels committed administrative violations when using fishing vessels exceeding the permitted exploitation area without written approval. Both ships have a length of 12 meters to under 15 meters. In addition, one of the two captains did not have a diploma or certificate as prescribed.
Based on the violation records, the Commander of the Border Guard Command of Binh Dinh province issued a decision to administratively sanction the two captains with a total amount of 154 million VND. At the same time, a person's right to use the Certificate of Captain of a Fourth Class fishing vessel shall be revoked for a period of 9 months.
The Border Guard of Binh Dinh province said that it will continue to increase patrols, control, and strictly handle violations to ensure fisheries exploitation activities are in accordance with regulations, contributing to preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
