HCMC - A 12-year-old girl with a disability in her legs has been able to walk on her legs after surgery.

Born with their bigoted legs and short heels, N.T.T (12 years old, Quang Binh) can only move on the knees.

At the age of 6, he was taken to a hospital in Hue by his family for treatment. The surgery was unsuccessful, and the doctors could not find a viable solution. Despised by difficult circumstances, the family had to accept that their daughter had to live with disabled legs.

When he was in grade 5, he was recognized by the charity fund for childhood enhancement and taken to FV Hospital for examination.

Dr. Le Trong Phat - Head of the Orthopedic Trauma Department, FV Hospital found that his knee joint could not be stretched straight due to the contractions, only stretched 60 degrees. Because the legs are not used much, the muscles do not develop, the two tubes are con toured, the knees are in direct contact with the floor, so the bottles are rough and stiff.

According to Dr. Phat, it is necessary to solve two problems with knee and foot joints. If these two parts are adjusted straight back, Trang will be able to walk.

In November 2022, Trang underwent surgery on her left leg by Dr. Phat and her team, cutting and dilating the tendons to help the nerves contract and stretch. After that, the doctor adjusted the soles of the feet to be straight.

After meticulous surgery, Trang's knee joint - previously only stretched for 60 degrees - was stretched for 20 degrees. Two weeks later, the knee joint was stretched another 10 degrees and finally completely straight.

After removing the dough, Trang was instructed to walk on her left leg with a core. In July 2024, the second surgery by the team of Dr. Phat to correct the contracted knee and the axis of the right foot was successful.

After 7 months of rehabilitation training, Trang is now happy to walk on her own two legs with her sleeves. Doctor Phat predicted that he would soon walk normally without crunches.

According to Dr. Le Trong Phat, congenital foot arthritis is not uncommon, but if detected early, it can be cured with the Orthopedic powdery regrowth method. Therefore, it is recommended that parents should observe and detect their children's condition early to treat them promptly, avoiding serious surgeries later.
