More than 300 women in Can Tho participate in the Workshop on proactive health care

Can Tho - Central Center for Health Education and Communication, Ministry of Health disseminates Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo to women.

On the morning of October 28, the Central Center for Health Education and Communication under the Ministry of Health (T5G) in coordination with the Vietnam Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Association (VBA) and the Can Tho City Women's Union organized a Workshop on proactive health care knowledge communication for women in Can Tho. The event attracted more than 300 women to attend.

The workshop aims to provide updated information on Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on strengthening protection, care and improving people's health, along with nutritional knowledge and instructions for reading food and beverage labels.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Mr. Vu Manh Cuong, Director of T5G, emphasized that Resolution 72 approved by the Politburo on September 9, 2025 has identified people's health as the most valuable asset of the country.

The Resolution proposes breakthrough solutions, creating a major transformation in health thinking and policies: Strongly shifting from the thinking of focusing on medical examination and treatment (passive health) to proactive disease prevention (preventive health) and comprehensive health care; Consolidating, perfecting and modernizing grassroots health care (commune and ward health stations) to become the "gatekeeper" in managing public health, reducing the burden on the upper level; Promoting financial reform, sustainably developing public health insurance policies as a foundation, aiming at the goal of basic hospital fees for people (expected until 2030) and conducting free periodic health check-ups at least once a year (from 2026);...

According to Mr. Cuong, when a woman knows how to take the initiative to take care of her health, it is an act for herself, the first step for a healthy family and a happy society. Proactive health care is not an option, but a right and responsibility of every woman in the new era.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, Chairman of VBA Association, expressed his honor to accompany the Workshop. Mr. Viet shared that the beverage industry strives to diversify its product portfolio, strongly expand health-friendly product lines such as sugar-free, low-calorie drinks, vitamin and mineral supplements, to meet consumer needs.

At the workshop, experts also clarified that obesity is a disease of the lifestyle system, not of a food, sugar provides energy for the brain and muscles, excess energy is the core of the weight problem. Experts help stir up the atmosphere at the Workshop, thereby guiding women on how to read food and beverage labels more accurately.

The Central Center for Health Education and Communication was established in 1980 as a public service unit under the Ministry of Health. The Center is assigned the task of communicating the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State and the health sector on protecting, caring for and improving people's health.
