On May 15, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said that it had directed departments, branches and localities to synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control infectious diseases during the changing seasons, especially during the peak summer tourism season in 2025.
In April 2025, the whole province of Khanh Hoa recorded 258 cases of dengue fever (no deaths), an increase of 68.6% over the same period last year; 1 case of malaria (down 96.6%) and 132 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (down 17.5%).
In the first 4 months of 2025, the whole province had 1,643 cases of dengue fever, double the same period last year, no deaths were recorded. hand, foot and mouth disease has 430 cases, an increase of 19.7%; malaria has decreased to 4 cases, with no deaths.
Also in the first 4 months of the year, the whole province had 898,956 medical examinations, an increase of 2.2%; 80,033 inpatient treatments, an increase of 13.8%; 9,448 surgeries, an increase of 0.9% over the same period in 2024.
Khanh Hoa Health Department recommends that people proactively implement disease prevention measures according to instructions, especially for children, the elderly and people with underlying diseases.
Localities need to continue to promote communication work, raise public awareness of disease prevention, and at the same time ensure human resources, equipment, and medicine are ready to respond when an epidemic occurs.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has also requested People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to coordinate with the health sector to effectively implement disease prevention and control activities.
The work of expanding vaccination is also emphasized, requiring increased review and strict management, not leaving out vaccinated subjects.
Units are also required to closely monitor the situation and promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee on matters under their authority to ensure effective epidemic prevention work.
As recommended by the Ministry of Health, hot and humid weather forecasts in the next summer will create favorable conditions for the disease to arise and outbreak, especially diseases that are transmitted through the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and mosquito disease. The higher the risk of spreading in the context of people's travel and tourism demand increased sharply in the summer of 2025.
