On July 30, representatives of Thai Binh Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital (Hung Yen province) said that doctors of Obstetrics Department 2 had just successfully performed surgery to remove a uterine fibroid tumor weighing nearly 3kg for patient N.T. N (51 years old).
According to the hospital, the patient has had uterine fibroids for many years, recently the tumor developed rapidly, causing abdominal distension, severe lower abdominal pain and prolonged menorrhagia leading to severe anemia.
Examination results showed that the patient's hemoglobin index was only 67g/l. The tumor was about 250 x 140mm in size, compressing the bladder, ureter and rectum, and the blood vessel system feeding the tumor increased densely.
Faced with the dangerous situation, the hospital held a hospital-wide consultation and transfused 1,000ml of blood to improve the patient's physical condition before surgery.
The surgery was performed by BSCKII Nguyen Viet Suyet - Head of Department of Obstetrics 2 and the team of Department of Obstetrics 2 and Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation. After 70 minutes of surgery, the team successfully removed a fibroid tumor weighing nearly 3kg, while safely preserving the surrounding structures.
Currently, the patient's health is stable, pulse and blood pressure indicators are good, and the level of pain after surgery is mild. The patient has had normal bowel movements and urination and can stand up and walk on his own from the first day after surgery.
