Here are some benefits of instant coffee, shared by nutritionist Fiona Sampat at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
1. Contains little caffeine
Instant coffee has a lower caffeine content than traditionally brewed coffee, making it suitable for people who are sensitive to caffeine. A cup of instant coffee contains 26 mg of caffeine, while a cup of traditional coffee contains 37 mg, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
2. Improve mood
According to a study published in the journal Food Components to Enhance Performance, the caffeine in coffee can boost brain function, improve alertness and elevate mood.
3. Reduce the risk of diabetes
A study published in the journal Nutrients found that people who drank at least one cup of coffee a day had an 11% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who did not drink coffee. Instant coffee contains a compound called chlorogenic acid, which improves insulin sensitivity and helps reduce the risk of diabetes.
