According to the health sector, prolonged hot weather has significantly affected the health of people in Vinh Long province, causing the number of patients coming for examination and treatment at medical facilities to increase.

From the end of March to now, medical examination and treatment facilities in the province have received more than 715,000 patient visits, an increase of over 33% compared to the previous month, mainly respiratory, cardiovascular, high blood pressure and digestive disorders.

In addition, cases of heatstroke and dehydration also tend to increase in prolonged hot weather conditions, putting significant pressure on the medical examination and treatment system in the locality.

Faced with this situation, the Department of Health directed medical examination and treatment facilities to proactively increase human resources, medicines, and medical supplies, ready to receive and treat patients in all situations.

The health sector also promotes communication and guidance for people to implement hot weather prevention measures to protect health and limit the risk of disease in harsh weather conditions.

Doctors recommend that people need to drink enough water, supplement reasonable nutrition, increase green vegetables and fruits, and limit going out during hot sunny hours from 10 am to 4 pm.

In case it is mandatory to go outside, people need to cover themselves carefully with hats, long-sleeved shirts, sunglasses, and avoid working continuously under prolonged heat to reduce the risk of health effects.

For people with underlying diseases, it is necessary to adhere to treatment, regularly monitor health, have periodic check-ups and go to medical facilities promptly when abnormal signs such as dizziness, nausea, high fever appear.
