For the past 3 years, the patient has often had persistent itchy eyes, symptoms that increased at night, accompanied by a feeling of discomfort, discomfort, and many blurred vision. This condition caused her insomnia, seriously affecting her daily activities. Despite having gone to many places for examination, the symptoms did not improve. In particular, she is always haunted by the fact that after bathing a dog, water splashes on her eyes, thereby fearing that she could get parasites from pets.
When admitted, BSCKI Nguyen Thi Lanh - an Ophthalmologist recorded that the patient had inflammation of the psoas on both sides, cataracts in both eyes and dreamy eyes on the right eye. Initial diagnosis is chronic premenitis - a common disease, easily recurring if not treated thoroughly.
To find the cause, the patient was assigned to do parathyroid tests commonly found in dogs and cats such as dog years, eel worms, etc. At the same time, the doctor took samples from the eyelid area to scan fresh under the microscope.
The results showed that the patient did not have worms, but was suddenly discovered to have... caterpillars - an extremely small parasite (12mm) living at the base of the caterpillars. This species is difficult to observe with the naked eye, only seen clearly when in large quantities or under the microscope. In addition to the eyes, eyelashes can also exist in hair, eyebrows, and Mo hair. Fortunately, the patient showed no signs of rickets.
After determining the cause, the patient was instructed on the cleansing of the pimples, using a specialized pimples, applying anti-irritation fat medicine, and taking parasitic drugs. At the same time, she is advised to clean the entire living environment such as beds, mattresses, blankets, pillows... to remove bad eggs, prevent the risk of reinfection.
According to Dr. Lanh, leprosy is mainly transmitted through close or indirect contact with shared face masks, clothes, and bed sheets. Although it is not as easy to spread as a locust, you still need to pay attention if you live in a closed, unsanitary environment.
Dr. Lanh recommends: People with symptoms of prolonged itching, severe impetigo, pimples, recurring inflammation or a history of contact with dogs, cats, and pets should proactively go to the clinic for early diagnosis and timely treatment.
