Patient N.H (57 years old), from Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province, was taken by his family for health check-ups and hospitalized at the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology - Hospital 199 of the Ministry of Public Security for the reason of being thin and losing weight of unknown cause.

Here, Mr. N.H was examined by a general doctor for tests and prescribed a stomach - colon endoscopy for cancer screening. Stomach endoscopy results showed suspected cancer damage in the stomach cavity. The patient underwent a photoshopped, pathological pathology and the pathological results determined that this was early stage stomach cancer.
After consultation, the doctors agreed to treat the tumor with endoscopic peeling surgery (ESD) to remove the tumor. After more than 1 hour of intervention, the tumor was successfully removed. The patient is currently being monitored at the department and can be discharged after 2-3 days.
MSc. Dr. Hoang Phuong Thuy - Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Hospital 199 said: The ESD method is a high-level technique with many benefits but is difficult to implement, because to do it, modern machinery and equipment are needed and doctors must be trained in ESD techniques. Another difficulty is that in Vietnam, most stomach cancer patients are detected at a late stage, when the cancer damage passes through the lining of the digestive tract, so not all cases can apply this method. The case of patient N.H is a typical example showing the importance of periodic stomach cancer screening, especially in people with high risk factors. Early detection of the disease helps increase the chance of successful treatment and prolong the patient's life."
