On the evening of August 6, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa - Director of the City General Hospital in Bac Loi City - announced that another death due to dengue fever has been recorded in the area.
The deceased patient was Mr. D.V.Q (62 years old, residing in Ward 2. Prior to this, on August 1, the patient exhibited symptoms of high fever continuously and was taken to Lam Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Subsequent tests revealed that the patient was positive for dengue fever. The patient was then transferred to Chợ Rẫy Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) for treatment.
On August 4, patient Q passed away while undergoing treatment at Chợ Rẫy Hospital due to multi-organ failure and severe illness.
The City General Hospital in Bac Loi City assessed that the situation with dengue fever in the area is developing extremely complexly and unpredictably.
As of August 5, the city of Bac Loi has recorded 1,627 cases of dengue fever, a 1,500-case increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Cases of the disease have appeared in all wards and communes within the city. Specifically, Lộc Sơn Ward has recorded the highest number of cases with 304 cases.
The City Health Department and local authorities have handled 495 small-scale outbreaks. Among these, 205 outbreaks were eradicated using insecticide fogging, and 290 outbreaks were eradicated using insecticide spraying…
Currently, the Bac Loi City People's Committee is directing the City General Hospital and local health stations to collaborate with the local government, wards, and communes to intensify the implementation of a campaign to clean the environment, eradicate Aedes mosquitoes, and thoroughly handle areas with outbreaks and high-risk areas.
Earlier, in July 2024, Bac Loi City also recorded one death due to dengue fever.
