Closing the group stage, ASEAN Cup 2026 has identified two semi-final matches.
In Group A, Vietnam holds the top spot with 10 points after 4 unbeaten matches. Coach Kim Sang-sik's team defeated Timor Leste 7-0, Indonesia 3-0, Cambodia 3-1 and drew with Singapore 0-0, scoring 13 goals and conceding only 1 goal.
Meanwhile, Group B closed with the top spot belonging to Thailand after 4 consecutive wins, winning all 12 points. Malaysia finished in second place with 9 points to win a spot in the semi-finals.
This result brings the Malaysian team to meet the Vietnamese team in the semi-finals. The two teams are no stranger as they just met in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. Accordingly, Vietnam was decided to beat Malaysia 3-0 in the first leg because the opponent used players against regulations. In the most recent encounter in March, Vietnam won 3-1 at Thien Truong Stadium.
However, the previous results do not determine the semi-final situation. Malaysia has made changes in force and operation under coach Tan Cheng Hoe. Therefore, the Vietnamese team also needs to maintain stability after the group stage to aim to defend the championship.
In the remaining bracket, Thailand will meet Singapore. This match promises to bring exciting developments.
According to the schedule, in the first leg semi-final, Singapore will host Thailand on August 15, and Vietnam will be guests against Malaysia on August 16.
In the second leg, Thailand will face Singapore at home on August 18th and Vietnam will return to My Dinh to host Malaysia on August 19th.
Matches in the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-finals will be broadcast live on FPT Play, TV360 and VTV6, VTV7 channels.
