On the morning of June 14, "Cashless Festival - Ting Ting Day" took place at Nguyen Hue walking street, Ho Chi Minh City.
Attending the opening ceremony were members of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc; members of the Party Central Committee, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University - Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan and representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Bank; the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, departments and branches of the city...
With the slogan "Touching one - living without cash", the festival has recreated a true cashless society: from shopping with QR codes, using e-wallets for eating, scanning contactless cards to receive incentives, to checking in, playing games, receiving gifts completely without cash.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Workshop "Cashless Payment: Digital Economic Growth Driver" took place on the same day, June 14 at the Rex Hotel. The workshop is a place to summarize the implementation of the Project on developing non-cash payments in Vietnam for the period 2021-2025 according to Decision 1813/QD-TTg on developing non-cash payments.
This year's event is not only a technology experience festival but also an important forum to announce the latest data on consumer behavior, affirming the strong shift to digital payments in Vietnam.

The State Bank has published data showing that by the end of 2024, Vietnam has more than 204.5 million individual customer payment accounts, 154.1 million outstanding bank cards; 86.97% of adults have bank accounts.
Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang emphasized that digital payments are a key strategy in e-commerce development, especially in supporting traders and traditional markets to modernize business models.
The program needs to focus on two pillars: raising public awareness and developing digital infrastructure, along with digital skills training for small traders to catch up with modern consumer trends.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is implementing a Digital Transformation Program for Traditional Market Traders nationwide, in conjunction with Decision 645/QD-TTg on national e-commerce development.
Accordingly, integrating cashless payments using QR Codes, e-wallets, and contactless payments not only helps optimize operating processes but also helps small traders expand their customer base, access digital finance and join modern supply chains.
It is expected that in 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will advise the Government to submit the Law on E-commerce, creating a legal corridor for sustainable digital business development.
At the workshop, Tuoi Tre and Coc Coc Newspapers officially published the exclusive survey report "Cashless payments - Understanding user behavior in the digital economic era" with many new findings such as: Cash no longer dominates when up to 59% of users prioritize non-cash payment methods in daily transactions; QR Code is a "national" method and what barriers are preventing people from paying cashless - especially in the group of small traders and the elderly.
