On the afternoon of June 2, the State Bank, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, Vietnam - Napas National Payment Joint Stock Company, announced the 2025 Cashless Day program with the theme "Cashless payments promote the digital economy".
Sharing at the event, a representative of the Payment Department (State Bank) emphasized the message of this year's program: "Cashless payment is not only a transaction method but a strategic platform connecting all components of the digital economy".
The representative of the Payment Department also gave encouraging figures about this payment method. Accordingly, the value of non-cash payments in 2024 will reach VND 295.2 trillion, 26 times higher than GDP. By the end of 2024, the rate of people aged 15 and over with bank accounts reached 86.97%.

By the end of the first quarter of 2025, cashless payment transactions increased by 44.43% in quantity; there were nearly 10.4 million Mobile-money accounts, of which more than 72% were in rural, mountainous, remote, border and island areas.
As of March 31, 2025, there are 47 organizations providing e-wallet services; the number of e-wallets operating in Vietnam is about 30.27 million wallets (accounting for 65.8% of the total of nearly 46.01 million e-wallets activated) with the total amount on these wallets being over 2.8 trillion VND.
Regarding security and safety issues, the State Bank has actively coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to effectively implement Project 06 of the Government. Up to now, about 57 million borrowers have had their borrowers' records reviewed and compared with the National and Population Database; more than 111.8 million individual customer records have had their biometric information compared...
The Cashless Day 2025 program will have 3 main activities, including a cashless festival held in Ho Chi Minh City from 14 to 15.6; a workshop on "Cashless Payment: Digital Economic Growth Driver" on 14.6; in addition, shopping and promotion programs are held in Ho Chi Minh City...
The organizing committee set a target of the year's program reaching at least 50 million people, attracting more than 5 million interactions on social networks and newspapers, attracting 200,000 direct participants, and at the same time promoting the rate of cashless transactions in Ho Chi Minh City to increase by at least 20% in June 2025.
