In her opening speech, Ms. Ly Kim Chi - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association said that the Ho Chi Minh City food and foodstuff industry plays an important role in the city's economic development, accounting for about 20% of the total industrial production value.
Not only serving domestic consumption needs, Ho Chi Minh City food products also reach out to the world, conquering demanding international markets such as the EU, US, and Japan.
"In 2024, we face many challenges from the global market, but at the same time, many great opportunities open up.
New consumer trends such as green food, alternative products, or high requirements for traceability have set a new development path full of potential for the Vietnamese food industry.
Events like today's Exhibition Week are the platform for businesses to not only introduce products, but also connect, grasp trends and build sustainable development strategies," said Ms. Ly Kim Chi.
The event attracted nearly 100 businesses from consumer goods, dried foods, seafood, sweets, confectionery, beverages to clean agriculture... to participate in introducing and displaying products.
According to Mr. Tran Phu Lu - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPCC), this week is held annually. Every year, the unit tries to find new products, especially newly researched and developed products to help businesses reach potential customers.
"Through the program, we hope to promote to our partners the development of the food industry in Ho Chi Minh City. The products selected for display are all typical, unique, and dedicated products of the business," said Mr. Tran Phu Lu.
The Food and Foodstuff Industry Product Introduction and Trade Connection Week is organized to help businesses promote their products, reach potential partners and expand further in both domestic and foreign markets.
