On October 5, at Viet Tiep Palace, the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee had a meeting and dialogue with foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in the city.
The dialogue was chaired by Hai Phong Party Secretary Le Tien Chau, along with Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Do Manh Hien, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung. Also attending the dialogue were representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Federation of Industry and Commerce, representatives of city departments and branches and more than 700 enterprises, representatives of domestic and international organizations; representatives of universities, colleges, vocational schools...
According to the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, currently, the city has 985 valid foreign-invested projects with a total registered investment capital of 31 billion USD, of which investment projects mainly focus on the industrial production sector with a ratio of over 83% of investment capital; investment projects in the real estate and infrastructure business sector account for 14% of investment capital; the rest are investment projects in the fields of trade, services, transportation, and mining.
At the conference, representatives of Associations and enterprises made many recommendations to the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee. In the groups of recommendations, the groups related to land and construction issues; Transport infrastructure; Tax and customs; Investment and business investment connection, energy-related issues, requirements to ensure electricity for enterprises to stabilize production and business...
In particular, the group's recommendations are related to labor, such as the fact that many units located outside industrial zones have difficulty recruiting workers, especially specialized workers; Coordination between functional units when incidents such as work accidents occur is not yet favorable...
According to the Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, for legitimate recommendations from businesses, the departments and branches are required to thoroughly handle them immediately and inform the businesses. For recommendations related to legal problems, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee assigned the Party Committee of the City People's Committee to promptly make specific recommendations to the Central Government, speed up the progress of resolving the problems; Monitor, urge and periodically report the results of the implementation of the above proposals and recommendations.
Secretary Le Tien Chau affirmed: In recent years, Hai Phong has achieved many important and outstanding achievements in socio-economic development; the economy has grown at double digits for 9 consecutive years, a bright spot in the overall picture of the country. The city has also achieved impressive growth in attracting FDI, always in the top of the country in terms of registered investment capital and tends to be increasingly attractive to foreign investors.
“FDI enterprises have made an especially important contribution to the development of Hai Phong city, not only in the economic field, but also in the social field. It can be affirmed that foreign investment capital is an important part of the total investment capital of the whole society; FDI enterprises are an important driving force in the socio-economic development of the city. The city's leaders are committed to always accompany and pay special attention, provide substantial and effective support to continue promoting the development of FDI enterprises" - Secretary Le Tien Chau affirmed.
On this occasion, Hai Phong city leaders presented a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between a number of enterprises, investors, organizations, and associations connecting FDI investment and business in the city.
