According to international media, one of the features that Google has previously exclusively reserved for its Pixel phone line may appear on the Samsung Galaxy S26 line. That is the artificial intelligence (AI) fraud detection warning feature, which helps warn users about scams in real time.
According to information from Android Authority, experts have found hidden code in the latest version of the Google Phone application, which mentions some new smartphone model designations – these designations coincide with Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
These model numbers appear along with references to many different Pixel phones, and "Sharpie" - the internal code name that Google uses for the Fraud Detection feature. Connecting the information together, it seems that this feature will appear on the Samsung Galaxy S26 line when these phones are launched in the near future.
However, there is still no certainty, and there is a problem to note: Samsung phones are pre-installed with the company's own Samsung Phone application, not Google's application. It is possible that Google's version will become the default application in the future, or Samsung's equivalent application will automatically integrate fraud detection technology.
The scam detection feature is one of the features that shows how useful artificial intelligence (AI) is. It searches for patterns that match known scams and warns you if someone is trying to deceive you. This feature works on both phone calls and text messages, everything runs on your phone and no data is sent to Google.
When you turn on the Fraud Detection feature (default is turned off), it will monitor calls and messages with people not in your contact list – so you will not suddenly see one of your loved ones labeled as a fraud threat.
This feature is available on Google Pixel 6 and above in the US, and on Pixel 9 and above (except Google Pixel 9a) in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland and the UK. For the latest devices, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 phone lines, this function is provided by the Gemini Nano model.
Google does not guarantee a 100% success rate with the Fraud Detection feature, but it can help you avoid being scammed of money or personal data.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
