Tracing the origin is an opportunity for Vietnamese goods to enter the global supply chain

For Vietnamese goods to step into the global supply chain faster, traceability needs to become the backbone of quality management.

On December 11 in Hanoi, the Voice of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper (VOV) coordinated with the National Code and Bar Association, the National Committee for Standards and Quality Measurement (Ministry of Science and Technology) to organize a conference to review 5 years of implementing Project 100 of the Government.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Chairman of the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality - said that in the past 5 years, implementing Project 100 under the direction of the Prime Minister, traceability activities have changed strongly.

Entering the period of extensive integration, especially when major markets such as the EU, the US, and Japan apply new regulations on ecological design, digital product passports, and mandatory traceability, Vietnam needs to further affirm its position with advanced standards, reliable data systems, and the ability to connect the open - sustainable - digital supply chain. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for Vietnamese goods to move faster and more firmly into the global supply chain.

Sharing at the Conference, Mr. Bui Ba Chinh - Director of the National ma code center, Ministry of Science and Technology - said that immediately after Project 100 of the Prime Minister took effect, the implementation of goods traceability in the locality has had many positive changes.

Currently, all 34 new provinces/cities (after the arrangement of 63 old administrative units) have developed a Plan to implement the Project " Deployment, application and management of traceability systems" in the province. 100% of localities have identified the main product group or OCOP products as the focus for implementing the application of traceability of origin (TXNG); over 25,000 enterprises apply the TXNG system.

To promote the system's comprehensive efficiency, in the coming period, it is necessary to continue to promote technology standardization, connection and data sharing, support infrastructure for mountainous provinces and ensure smooth connection with the National Product and Goods Traceability Information Portal, said Mr. Bui Ba Chinh.

Speaking on the orientation for the implementation of Project 100 nationwide, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh emphasized that the world is moving very quickly, many major export markets require mandatory standards on information, environment and sustainability.

"Resolution 57 of the Politburo has put science and technology innovation and digital transformation as one of the strategic breakthroughs. That creates a great opportunity for us to make traceability the backbone of quality management, the driving force for the development of the modern production and business ecosystem - Mr. Le Xuan Dinh emphasized.

In addition, Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh also pointed out 5 key points that need to be implemented in the coming time. First is to build a national traceability system that meets the standards of cross-sectoral data, international connectivity, strong application of AI, Blockchain, IOT and integration of national digital platforms. Second, it is necessary to ensure that all key product lines from agriculture, industry, pharmaceuticals to consumer goods... must apply traceability according to unified national standards. Third, these orientations need to be implemented faster, more drastically and synchronously. Fourth, in the coming time, Project 100 must shift from implementation to breakthrough and from piloting to standardization.

Fifth is the need to switch from technical connectivity to national data interconnectivity. Without connectivity and failure to ensure the connectivity of big data, it is impossible to connect internationally. Therefore, it is necessary to spread so that all product lines have the opportunity to participate in tracing goods. In particular, it is necessary to create a traceability system in which businesses must feel that it is beneficial for them to participate.

Also at the conference, the Organizing Committee honored and presented certificates of confirmation to localities and enterprises including: Lao Cai Province Department of Science and Technology, An Giang Province Department of Science and Technology, Hung Yen Province Department of Science and Technology, Can Tho Province Department of Science and Technology, Checkee Technology Joint Stock Company, Icheck Trace Joint Stock Company. These are the units that have connected to the National product and goods traceability Portal.
