MC Thao Van said that this was the first time mother and son had walked together on the catwalk, so she felt very happy and moved, mixed with pride. From a little boy in his mother’s arms, her son is now her “colleague” on stage.
This show is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, so for Thao Van, this memory of mother and daughter becomes even more meaningful and memorable.
"Although I was not born and raised in Hanoi, I have been attached and worked here for a long time, so I feel that the fact that my mother and I are able to participate in the show is a tribute to this splendid land" - MC Thao Van said.
Thao Van and her son were excited to be at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center in Hanoi for a rehearsal with the models and designer Quyen Nguyen. The female MC said that her son was a bit nervous when performing on a big stage for the first time, but with his mother's encouragement, Gia Bao performed well and received a lot of support from the audience.
Talking about the reason for inviting MC Thao Van and her daughter to be the image ambassadors for this collection, designer Quyen Nguyen said: “MC Thao Van has always left a mark in the public’s hearts with her elegant beauty and gentle, delicate behavior. The successes she has achieved in work and life also show the great efforts of modern women. This is similar to the beauty of the lotus flower - the main and consistent image in my collection.”
The collection “Ao Dai – a story” by designer Quyen Nguyen includes 25 Ao Dai designs made from traditional materials such as Ha Dong silk, Bao Loc silk, brocade, etc. Each design is meticulously hand-embroidered, with motifs imbued with the colors of East Asian culture such as lotus, peony, dragon – phoenix, etc.
Through her designs, Quyen Nguyen hopes to tell the story of the "vitality of Vietnamese ao dai" which has remained elegant and graceful through many historical periods.
With the image of ao dai of many generations to end the show, designer Quyen Nguyen hopes to send a message of inheritance and development, so that ao dai becomes the heritage and pride of the Vietnamese people.
