On the afternoon of September 25, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province held a press conference on the 2nd Mekong Delta Startup Forum/2024. Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Thuy - Director of the Office of the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform) co-chaired.
Speaking at the opening of the press conference, Mr. Tran Tri Quang emphasized: The Mekong Delta is a major agricultural production area of the country, however, it is facing huge challenges. Therefore, it is necessary to have the cooperation of the public and private sectors to join forces to improve.
With that spirit, the Organizing Committee has built the Forum theme as "Green Economy - New driving force for development" with many new and practical contents compared to the first Forum/2022.
Accordingly, from September to November 2024, 3 major activity series will be organized:
Firstly, training aims to raise awareness and promote actions to adapt to the green transformation trend and reduce emissions. This activity includes training courses for leaders, civil servants, public employees, and businesses to provide knowledge, raise awareness, and promote action. Thereby, grasping domestic and international trends in green economic development, while identifying opportunities, challenges, and solutions to promote new directions for the region and locality.
Second, organize the "Mekong Innovation Challenges 2024" Competition (Mekong Innovation Challenges - MIC 2024) organized by Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, to attract the business and startup community (domestic and foreign), institutes - schools and research centers to participate in solving problems (challenges) of the Mekong Delta region. In addition to the high prize value (First prize worth 100 million VND), it is also connected with investment funds to increase investment support for project development in the "Pitching Day" Investment Call Conference.
Third, the plenary session of the Forum will take place over 2 days (November 29-30, 2024) at the Dong Thap Provincial Labor Culture House (Cao Lanh City) and is expected to attract over 350 delegates and guests. It will focus on issues surrounding key commodity chains in the region, focusing on discussions on the context and challenges, opportunities for the Mekong Delta agricultural sector, opportunities for start-up businesses towards the goal of modernity, sustainability and low emissions...
With such a series of practical activities, the Organizing Committee expects the Forum to be a good opportunity to connect resources and markets to support the development of products, startup projects, technology - services of Dong Thap province and the Mekong Delta, forming a sustainable innovative startup ecosystem on the basis of science - technology and digital transformation.
